Celebrity websites are claiming that the 48-year-old may have drowned in the bath and that while there were no illegal drugs in her room there were pills nearby.
She was said to have been found by one of her entourage in the bath and when she showed no signs of life they called the emergency services.

In April 2010 she called media reports she was using drugs again “ridiculous” but in May 2011, Houston enrolled in a drug and alcohol rehab programme.
It was a tragic fall for a superstar who was one of the top-selling artists in pop music history, with more than 55 million records sold in the US alone.

Pop star Rihanna posted on Twitter: “No words, just tears.”
Mariah Carey wrote: “Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms Whitney Houston.
“My heartfelt condolences to Whitney’s family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world. She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth.”
